Course Description:

Entertainment is a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course. It provides students with the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification that can be used to obtain employment or undertake further training within the industry. In this course students must undertake the mandatory element of Work Placement and can obtain a Statement of Attainment towards Certificate III in Live Production and Services if they complete all Units of Competency within the course, to a competent level.

What will I be doing in this course?

In Entertainment, students will learn about the aspects of the production of any type of live performance or event. Students can gain skills in working safely and effectively in the Creative Arts industry, audio operations, lighting operations, sets, staging and vision systems.

Students will need to complete a total of 70 hours work placement in the Creative Arts industry in order to successfully achieve their HSC. (35 hours in Year 11, 35 hours in Year 12)

How will this course help me in the future?

Entertainment provides students with the opportunity to obtain national vocational qualifications for employment in the Creative Arts industry.

Skills acquired in this course are transferable to other industries. Specialised Entertainment occupations include:

  • Technical assistant (Production)
  • Sound Technician
  • Assistant venue technician
  • Follow spot operator
  • Special Effects Assistant
