Information Processes and Technology (IPT)

Course Description:

Information Processes and Technology Stage 6 is designed to enable students to become confident, competent, discriminating and ethical users of information technologies, to possess an understanding of information processes and to appreciate the effect of information systems on society.

What will I be doing in this course?

Information Processes & Technology (IPT) is a course that integrates both practical & theoretical concepts in relation to Information Technology.

IPT has a primary focus on technology in a corporate environment.

It has an 80% theory and 20% practical component. In the HSC, students will need to sit a 3 hour examination.

Students will gain knowledge on how information systems are used for:

• Database Management

• Communication/Networking

• Backing up / Restoring Data

• Multimedia and Transaction processing

An emphasis is placed on Project Management, where students learn how to develop a plan & manage a project in industry based scenarios.

How will this course help me in the future?

IPT is a course targeted towards students who have a passion for technology and are looking to undertake an Information Technology course at a university level when graduating from school.
