Course Description:
Sport Coaching is a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course. It provides students with the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification that can be used to obtain employment or undertake further training within the industry. In this course students must undertake the mandatory element of Work Placement and can obtain a Certificate II in Sport Coaching if they complete all Units of Competency to a competent level. This course has a Rugby League specialisation.

What will I be doing in this course?
In Sport Coaching, students will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge of the fundamentals of coaching sport as well as developing an understanding of the sport and recreation industry. These core coaching skills and developed knowledge allows students to commence a career in the sport and recreation industry. As part of this Sport Coaching course, there is a specialisation unit of Rugby League.
Students will need to complete a total of 70 hours work placement in the Sports and recreation industry in order to successfully achieve their HSC. (35 hours in Year 11, 35 hours in Year 12)
How will this course help me in the future?
Sport Coaching provides students with the opportunity to obtain national vocational qualifications for employment in the sport and recreation industry.
Students will be able to develop knowledge and skills to enable them to be an effective sports coach.
Skills acquired in this course are transferable to other industries. Sport coaching occupations include:
- Sports trainer or coach
- Sports official
- Athlectic support worker
- Administration officer
- Community coach.
