Course Description:
The JOB SEARCH PROGRAM is designed to engage students in work oriented courses with a view to improving their prospects for employment. Also included in the program are opportunities to engage in TAFE Courses and links to employment agencies.
Each student has a program developed to suit his/her needs, abilities and interests. Our stage one competencies enable the student to action the basic job skills required to obtain employment. Work experience is a vital part of transitioning students into the workforce and is an integral part of the Job Search Program.
What will I be doing in this course?
Each student has their own program developed with their input. Their ongoing plan is kept in a folder by the teacher in the classroom.
Job Search students must aim to achieve these following competencies:
- Create your USI Account
- Gain Tax File Number
- Open bank account
- Register for Job Jump
- Complete Resume
- Attain your White Card
- Practice Driver Knowledge Test (L Plate license)
- Interview skills
- Work experience
- Job Applications
- TAFE
How will this course help me in the future?
This course teaches student how to find job advertisements, write resumes, cover letters and prepare for job interviews. It also provides students with the required skills and resources to have an effective transition from school to the workplace.
